Supported Independent Living, commonly known as SIL, is support that helps a person with disability live as independently as possible in their home.Depending on individual needs and NDIS funding, support may include assistance or supervision with personal care, cooking, cleaning, medication routines, household tasks, daily routines, accessing the community and developing independent living skills. Our approach is centred around the individual, their choices and the way they want to live.
No. SIL and SDA are different.SIL is about the support you receive in your home, such as assistance with daily activities and developing greater independence.SDA is about the physical home itself and is specialist housing designed for eligible participants with significant functional impairment or very high support needs.A person may receive SIL without living in an SDA property. We can discuss your individual situation with you and your support network.
Yes. We understand that no two people have exactly the same needs, goals, routines or preferences. Before supports commence, we take time to understand what is important to you, how you prefer to be supported and what you would like to achieve. We then work collaboratively with you and, where appropriate, your family, carers and support team to develop supports around your individual needs.
